Culture Shift was established in 2011 by the people behind Creative Partnerships in Sussex and Surrey.
Partnership remains at the heart of our approach. Our small core team often works alongside freelance creatives, each bringing specific areas of expertise to our projects, click for a list here
Julia Roberts
Chief Executive officer
Julia is a theatre specialist with a portfolio of experience which includes working as a Performing Arts consultant for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, Creative Agent for Creative Partnerships Sussex and Surrey and Programme Manager and Live Arts Creative Producer for Carousel; a disability arts organisation based in Brighton.
She works as an artist internationally for The International Schools Theatre Association and is a Theatre Quality Assessor for Arts Council England.
Within the Culture Shift team, Julia plays a key role in project and partnership development, leading on:

Our work with disabled people including The Arts Connect programme, management of Delta 7 and the development and delivery of Disability Awareness Training

Facilitation projects including work for Theatre Centre, Coastal West Sussex, Brighton and Hove City Council and East Sussex County Council Adult Services

Event management including the Every Sort Of People Festival

Luke Reed-George
Project Manager
Luke joined Culture Shift as a Programme Assistant in 2022, after working with us as a coach on our ‘Being our Best selves’ programme.
Luke has a degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of the West of England (UWE). Before joining the team, Luke worked for The Probation Service for Five years, as a Residential Worker and then a Probation Services Officer.

Digital Communication & Data Assistant
Sam joined Culture Shift in 2021 as part of a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. During his apprenticeship, Sam supported the delivery of project activities, primarily the Creative Café programme, and supported our digital communications and data processing.
Previously, he gained an Undergraduate degree in Creative Writing from London Metropolitan University, after which he worked for the Post Office as a Postmaster/Operations Manager.

Clare Towner
Programme Assistant
Clare joined the Culture Shift team as a freelancer working with the teams on Carers O’clock and our holiday activities as part of the national 'Holiday Activity and Food' programme. In May of 2024, Clare started a permanent role as Programme Assistant.
Clare spent many years working in primary education across East Sussex gaining in-depth knowledge and experience working with children. Changing direction she then created and ran her own successful business before joining the Culture Shift tea
